July 2, 2014 Content with Discontent: 31 Days of Looking Through a Single Grateful Lens

Day Two: Availability. I asked a co-worker for a ride home but she needed to stop at a grocery store. I was able to adapt easily to the change of plans and as a result enjoyed the extra time spent with her.

The thing I love about singleness is how available I am for others. I can say “yes” in situations where others may have to say “no”. The schedule adjustment is sometimes fun… I know it seems uber-social rather than relationally free, but I love seeing how many friends I can connect with in a short amount of time.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings…

I’ve decided that today starts a month of looking at singleness through a grateful lens. I would like to intentionally remind myself (and maybe others) some of the blessings God has provided during this season. This is not going to be easy and perhaps some days I will be pulling at straws, but it is a start.

K now for the good part!

Day One: was available and excited to share an adventure with one of my best friends. We visited Toronto and caught a Blue Jays game, which is becoming a wonderful annual tradition. The day before we went to a fancier restaurant because she knows how much of a foodie I am. I’m grateful for the kind of friend who I can enjoy new things with and who I can “just be” with. We don’t save life for sharing it with “the one”, we jump at opportunities! Thanks friend, you know who you are!
